Fernanda Oliviera

Fernanda began her training at the Escola Estadual de Dança Maria Olenewa in her hometown of Rio de Janeiro.  From there, she went to The Washington School of Ballet in Washington, DC to continue her training. She started her professional dance career with the Washington Ballet as a Studio Company member. IN 2014 she joined the Colorado Ballet ifor seven years before becoming a Company Member of the Pennsylvania Ballet. In her dance career, Ms. Oliveira has had the honor to perform works by George Balanchine, Antony Tudor, Twyla Tharp, Val Caniparoli, Septime Webre, Clark Tippet, Michael Pink, Trey McIntyre, CeCe Farha, among others, as well as classics like Don Quixote, Giselle, Le Corsaire and Sleeping Beauty. Oliveira has performed on stages such as the Lincoln Center, the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, and the Kennedy Center, where after performing the lead in Septime Webre’s Sympathique she received honorable mention in the DC Metro Theater Arts’ review as, “A commanding presence, she lets the entire audience know she was born to perform.” 

Expanding her passion for dance in other ways, Oliveira is also a freelance choreographer and has created ballets for Colorado Ballet (Saudade in 2017 and All Strings Attached in 2018) and Avant Chamber Ballet (Homebound, 2019 and Jeux 2022), as well as for the main stage performance of the 2019 Evergreen Music Festival. Oliveira has been a guest ballet instructor and coach since 2013, coaching pre-professional students and offering workshops both in the US and Brazil.
