CeCe Farha

Founder and Artistic Director ~ Currently on faculty with Washington Ballet in Washington DC, Choreographer for The Washington Ballet Company, and Children’s Ballet Master for the School of Washington Ballet, CeCe brings resources and expertise from one of the preeminent ballet schools and companies in the country exclusively to Range of Motion.  She is dedicated to the training of every student and directly oversees each faculty member to design the best curriculum and ensure the highest quality for Range of Motion.  Her knowledge and training are passed on directly to her students.  The quality of training is evident from the many ROM alumni who have achieved their dreams and gained prominence by performing on Broadway and touring the world as professional dancers.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, CeCe began dancing at the age of 3 with Corliss Ingram at Ingram’s Ballet Theater.  It was there she was instilled with the love of dance and learned much about expression and performance.  At the age of 16, CeCe began studying at The Academy of Ballet with Yvonne Chouteau and Miguel Terekhov, she was selected by Maria Tallchief as a founding company member of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Ballet Company, (which became Ballet Oklahoma), and received a full scholarship to the San Francisco School of Ballet under the direction of Lew Christiansen.  After receiving her second scholarship from San Francisco Ballet, CeCe returned to OKC to finish high school.  She continued her dance career as a Company member with Ballet Oklahoma.  CeCe then went on to the University of Oklahoma and furthered her studies with Miguel Terekhov and Yvonne Chouteau where she was a member of the Oklahoma Festival Ballet Company and received her Bachelor of Arts degree.  She began her teaching and choreography careers at this time.

CeCe’s dancing did not isolate her life.  To the contrary, it opened many doors for her.  She received the Jim Thorpe Award for High School Athletic Achievements in Oklahoma and was selected by the National Cheerleader Association as an Outstanding Athlete.  She then worked for the NCA for the next 17 years on their training staff and as the Choreographer for their summer programs.  She was also the NCA spokesperson for a series of instructional videotapes.  CeCe gives credit to her dancing for these accomplishments.

CeCe has held teaching positions at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University, established the Jazz Departments at the University of Central Oklahoma and Ballet Oklahoma.  Oklahoma City Public School Superintendent, Dr. Guy Sconzo, contracted CeCe to assist in establishing the Classen School for Advanced Studies Dance Program.  She is the creative mind behind such programs as the OKC Cavalry Sundancers, Cav Kids, and the OKC Blazers Junior blazers performing groups.  She sits on the Board for the Western Arkansas Ballet Company and is commissioned by dance companies and theaters across the nation.  She has created and produced over twenty original Children’s Ballets such as Aladdin and The Snow Queen.  Her strong relationships with The Pollard and Lyric Theatre have given her the opportunities to choreograph many professional productions including Annie Get Your Gun, Peter Pan, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Good-bye Girl, The Pajama Game, A Little Night Music, Godspell, Carousel, and Oklahoma! CeCe has received numerous Choreography Awards and Honors.

CeCe’s greatest achievement is the success of her students.  In November 1991, Range of Motion Dance Studio opened its doors in a small single room studio at Penn and Hefner Road.  Classes soon became full and led to the current success of ROM.  With numerous Performance Awards and Choreography Awards, ROM has grown into one of the strongest dance centers in the state.  As CeCe commutes between OKC and Washington D.C., the opportunities for her students is greater than ever before.  Many ROM dancers have trained and assisted CeCe at the Washington School of Ballet while others have attended private workshops at the Washington School of Ballet where they trained and performed at the infamous John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  CeCe’s dedication to quality dance technique and instruction will be evident in your child’s improvement and dance future.
