Jennifer Leyva

Jennifer Leyva recently returned to Oklahoma City after working in Fort Worth, Texas, as a choreographer, educator, and performer.

With more than 40 years of experience in the performing arts across Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, and Maryland, Jennifer has built a diverse career spanning performance, choreography, arts administration, and arts education.

She began dancing at the age of three, training in jazz, tap, ballet, modern, African, Flamenco, and numerous other dance styles.  Jennifer trained at Ballet Oklahoma under the direction of CeCe Farha and in 1991 became a founding student at Range of Motion Dance Studio!  At sixteen, she began her teaching career at the ROM.  She continued to train with CeCe at the University of Central Oklahoma as a dance major and a member of Kaleidoscope Dance Company.

Jennifer’s arts management experience includes leadership roles with Six Flags America, Double JJ Ranch & Golf Resort, Artisan Center Theater, Arts Fifth Avenue, and Upright Theatre.

As a performer, Jennifer has appeared in productions including Hello, Dolly!, Swing!, To Kill a Mockingbird, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Reckless, Barefoot in the Park, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. 

As a choreographer, Jennifer’s credits include Cinderella, Camelot, Phantom, Scrooged, The Sound of Music, Shrek the Musical, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, Once on This Island, Aladdin Jr., High School Musical, Newsies, Into the Woods, Nunsense, Annie, The Rocky Horror Show, and many other productions.

Jennifer is also committed to making dance accessible to all. She is currently training with Dance for Parkinson’s, bringing movement and creative expression to individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, and has proudly taught dance to dementia patients at the James L. West Center for Dementia Care in Fort Worth.

Jennifer is thrilled to be returning to ROM after 30 years!
