Mia Sherlock
Mia Sherlock is a teacher, creative, and non-profit professional in the Oklahoma City area. Originally from Omaha NE, she began her dance training at Adair Dance Academy and later studied at Ballet Nebraska as a part of their professional company, Ballet Nebraska II. During her time as a student, she attended summer programs at Kansas City Ballet in Kansas City Missouri, and Next Generation Ballet in Tampa Florida, where she studied under Peter Stark. When she wasn't at the dance studio, she was in rehearsals for musicals, plays, and improv competitions at her school and local community theaters. Mia moved to OKC to attend The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment. As a Dance Management student, she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Theatre Dance, and Pointe with a world-renowned faculty. Mia was an OCU LEADS Scholar and featured dancer in the American Spirit Dance Company, but her greatest collegiate honor was being the Jo Rowan Endowment Scholarship recipient in 2021/2022. Outside of Oklahoma City University, Mia's passion for dance and the performing arts led her to work with companies such as The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, and Omaha Performing Arts in Omaha Nebraska. She now works for Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma full-time on the Development Team, and teaches or choreographs anytime she gets the chance! An active member of the local arts community, Mia serves on the Oklahoma City Ballet's Associate Board of Directors, and on the Plaza Business Alliance and Plaza District Association Boards. Dance, musical theatre, and local art are just a few of the things that fill her heart, and she hopes to continue sharing her bliss with the Oklahoma City community in years to come!
“First you must know, ‘What is your Bliss?’...I think you must understand what career brings you satisfaction and a feeling of pride in your work, in other words, your bliss. Bliss makes you feel your efforts have been meaningful not just for yourself, but that they are rewarding for others” -Jo Rowan
